…Jean's Curl and Swirl
TEWKSBURY - Jean’s Curl and Swirl hairdresser and beauty shop proprietor, Jean Ruth Love (Martell), formerly of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2018, in Groton, at the age of 79.
Born in Billerica, Jean spent the majority of her life in Tewksbury where she raised her family. Jean successfully operated Jean’s Curl and Swirl for 50 years until her retirement in 2013. Over the years many of her clients became close friends, sharing stories of local gossip and expanding families.
Jean was all about family. She cherished various adventures, from camping and snowmobiling in Vermont and New Hampshire to vacationing in Florida, Nashville, Las Vegas, and Alaska. She also enjoyed frequent outings to Foxwoods Casino with devoted friend and fellow hairdresser, Claire Gagnon.
For many years, Jean relished volunteering at Lowell General Hospital’s Mother and Infant unit and at events supporting the TeamWalk for CancerCare.
Jean was married 45 years to the late Robert Francis Love, Sr. and predeceased by her brother Wilfred J. Martell Jr. Jean will be forever remembered by daughter Doreen (Jim); son Robert (Julie); sister Gloria Collins; grandchildren Corey, Shayla, Shayne, Sayre (Sarah); and great-grandchildren Tessa, Tristan and Emma. Jean will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Interment will be in Tewksbury, MA at a private ceremony. Arrangements are in the care of the Tewksbury Funeral Home, tewksburyfuneralhome.com
