…retired from Jenike and Johanson; 80

TEWKSBURY - Arthur H. Ploof, age 80, formerly of Tewksbury, died peacefully Tuesday, June 5 after a period of declining health at the Mansfield Center for Nursing in Mansfield-Storrs, CT. He was the beloved husband of Alma T. (Wentzell) Ploof, with whom he had celebrated a fifty-seventh wedding anniversary this past May 27. Alma was in residence with Arthur at the Mansfield Center.

He was born in Burlington, Vermont, a son of the late Arthur R. and Frances (Leffort) Ploof. Arthur lived in Tewksbury most of his life, where he and Alma raised their family. Arthur is best known for his decades of coaching girls softball—from the intramural leagues, to the travelling Tewksbury “Teddy’s,” to assistant coach for Tewksbury Memorial High School’s varsity team.

Arthur retired from Jenike and Johanson, where he worked as a Laboratory Technician.

Besides his wife, he leaves four children, Ronald J. Ploof and his wife Tara (Quan) of Aliso Viejo, CA, Donald A. Ploof of Groton, MA, Daniel A. Ploof and his partner Mario Alverez of Groton, MA, and Lynne A. Ploof and her companion Albert Klopfer of Coventry, CT; five grandchildren, Bryan Ploof of CA, Stephanie Ploof of NC, Tanner Ploof, Cameron Klopfer, and Annika Klopfer, all of CT; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by his brother, Robert Ploof.

Visiting hours Monday, June 11, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 12, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
