Obituary

Evans, GA – Reiko Uetake Karamichael, 88, loving wife of the late Chris C. Karamichael, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

A Trisagion service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 5:30 PM followed by visitation from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Platt’s Funeral Home on 337 N. Belair Road, in Evans. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with Father Michael Platanis officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Reiko affectionately known as “Smoochie” was married to the late Chris Karamichael for 63 years. Born and raised in Kyushu, Japan, Reiko was working on the American Base in the early 50’s in Japan where she met the love of her life Chris, from Limassol, Cyprus, who at the time was a medic in the US Army. They married in 1952 and moved to Virginia in 1953 where their two children, Stephen and Dina were born. Living in France, Augusta, GA, and Frankfurt, Germany, Reiko loved traveling throughout Europe with her family. In Germany she managed the daycare facility for 10+ years. Her bookkeeping skills allowed her to easily move into Tax checking at H&R Block for 15+ years. Reiko also loved sewing, flower arrangement, quilting, and gardening in her retirement years in Evans Georgia.

Survivors include one son, Stephen Karamichael (Anneliese) of Hoover, AL; daughter, Dina Wise of Acworth, GA; five grandchildren: Ryan Karamichael, Christopher Wise, Michelle Wise, Nicole Karamichael, Matthew Wise, and one great granddaughter, Lilliana.
