Donnie L. Vickers, 66, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Sunday, May 20, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Danny Shinholster officiating. Interment will follow in the Springhill Cemetery, in Cook County, Georgia, at 2 PM. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Vickers was born December 10, 1951, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late James Lawton & Jewel Idell Rentz Vickers. He lived in the community all of his life and worked for White Pest Control. Mr. Vickers was known for his music and could play any instrument.
He is survived by his children: Melony Hernandez & David of Irwin County and Donny L. Vickers, Jr. & Donna of Gastonia, North Carolina; grandchildren: Andrew Hernandez, Shawn Hernandez, Rebecca Hernandez and Jessica Vickers; great-grandchildren: Cole Hernandez and Payton Hernandez; a sister: Marian V. Gaines & Kent of Fitzgerald and a girlfriend, Connie Turner of Irwin County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Handley Vickers; brothers: Ted O. Vickers, Harris Ragan Vickers and Paul Eugene Vickers.
