Obituary

John M. Brassil Jr., a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life after a long battle with addiction on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 54 years of age.

John was born in Boston on June 2, 1963, a son of Marilyn T. "Mal" (Sullivan) Brassil and John M. "Jack" Brassil . He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston in 1982. John worked as a laborer with several construction and painting companies in the area. He enjoyed fishing, walking around Charlestown and was always willing to help people in their time of need.

John is the beloved son of Marilyn T. "Mal" (Sullivan) Brassil and the late John M. "Jack" Brassil (Retired Special Sheriff, Suffolk County Sheriff's Department). He is lovingly survived by his son John M. Brassil and his brother Kevin Bolger. He is the devoted brother of retired Boston Firefighter Thomas Brassil and his wife Elise and Lyn Mathes and her husband Jason. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Funeral on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at St. Paul's Cemetery, Arlington. His visiting hours will be on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
