Mrs. Mary Petrina (Gibbons) Dorsey, a resident of Lowell, MA, formerly of Andover and beloved wife of the late James G. Dorsey, passed away at the Northwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Lowell on Monday evening, May 14, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. She was 76 years old.
Born in Clinton, Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mary T. (Innamorati) Gibbons. After graduating high school, she was one of the first women to study engineering at Merrimack College, and later worked at the Mitre Corporation in Bedford. Known to her friends by her nickname "Petie", she was a Real Estate Broker in Andover for many years, first working for the Victor Company then JB Doherty Realty. In her later years she volunteered at the Littleton Senior Center and drove cancer patients to Boston for chemotherapy treatments. She loved entertaining, jazz music and watching her grandchildren perform. She will be dearly missed.
Mary is survived by her loving children; Lisa and her husband Scott Campbell of Irvine, California, Chris and his wife Deborah Dorsey of Chelmsford, Matthew J. Dorsey and his wife Gita Ighanian of Los Angeles, California and John Dorsey of North Andover, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a loving sister, Carol Tocci of Leominster.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 1 PM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held in the church, prior to the mass, from Noon to 1 PM. Interment will be held in St. Augustine Cemetery in Andover.
