Obituary

James Simpson Calder “Jim” 88, of Ipswich and formerly of Natick, passed away peacefully Monday night May 14, 2018, in the company of his family. He was the beloved husband of Shirley J. (Stover) Calder sharing 63 years of marriage. Born in Springfield MA he was the son of the late Joseph and Annie (Simpson) Calder, immigrants from Scotland. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, James and his wife, Holly, Steven and his wife, Diane Kelley, and Sara Sturgill, four grandchildren, Matthew, Katherine, Michael Calder and Casey Sturgill and one great grandchild, Karin Calder, sister in law Sara Collette and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Cheryl A. Calder and brother of the late Jean Kessener and George Calder.

James graduated from Boston University with a Master’s Degree in Physical Education in 1958. James retired from teaching as a Physical Education Teacher with the Natick school system. James was also the Beach Manager at Memorial Beach. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Korean War.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral on Saturday May 19 at 9:00 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common ,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Patrick’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours are Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Interment St Patrick Cemetery.
