Brockton – Jean E. (Costa) Benton 74, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died Tuesday May 15.
Born and raised in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Louis and Palmeda (Caldas) Costa and a graduate of Brockton High.
Before her retirement, Jean had worked for over twenty years managing local liquor stores in both Brockton and East Bridgewater. In her younger years she had also taught ceramics.
She truly loved music and had been a devoted fan of both Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond.
She is survived by her loving son Lorne Benton and his wife Helen of Brockton, and her grandchildren Nicholas and Christopher Benton. She was predeceased by her siblings Louis Costa, Patricia Keychuck and Elsie Mullen.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday May 17 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A private burial will be held at a later date.
