Obituary

WESTON: Cynthia “Cindy” (Berks) Mosher, 82 of Weston, died peacefully and surrounded by family on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Cindy was the beloved wife of the late Bob Mosher to whom she was married for 52 years. Born in Newton, MA she was a daughter of the late Mildred (Horton) Berks and the late George Lea Berks. She was also a direct descendant of William Brewster.
A resident of Weston for most of her life, she graduated from Kenwood High School in Overlea, Maryland in 1954. She attended Hickox Secretarial School and worked for period of time in the Applied Physics Lab at Polaroid Corporation where she met Bob. While raising a family, she began working for the Weston Public Schools in 1973 and was the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools until she retired in 1997.
Cindy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weston where she taught Sunday school for several years and served as Clerk of the Church for 7 years. Upon retirement she volunteered as a driver and a caller for the Weston Council on Aging’s Friends in Service Helping (FISH) program. In April, 2004 she became the Coordinator of FISH and in May 2006 she became the editor of Weston At A Glance (WAAG).
Cindy was a dedicated mother who loved and supported her four children in all of their activities. She attended all of their many little league games, musical performances, wrestling matches and theatrical performances. She was the driving force behind her and Bob’s 1973 purchase of a vacation cottage in Eastham, where her ancestors on her mother’s side go back 13 generations. The family vacationed in Eastham every summer creating many wonderful memories and continues to do so with the next generation of grandchildren.
Cindy enjoyed golfing and traveling with her family. While her kids were in school she outfitted a custom van and planned a number of extended car camping trips to Knoxville, Tennessee to the World’s Fair, to Disney World and to Nova Scotia. In retirement, she organized trips with her husband and many friends to Italy, Scotland, the Canadian Rockies by rail, Alaska, Bermuda, Hawaii, and many of the United States National Parks. Cindy also enjoyed a number of hobbies including working with stained glass, furniture restoration, and sewing. Most of all, Cindy’s greatest joy was her ten grandchildren. She loved spending time with them, doing things with them and taking them places.
Besides her late husband, Cindy leaves one daughter Karen Mosher Haack and her husband Brian of Long Beach California; three sons: Robert Allen Mosher, Jr. and his wife Denise of Weston; Stephen Harold Mosher and his wife Christine of Fitchburg; Douglas Berks Mosher and his wife Heidi of Westborough, and ten grandchildren: Acacia Lea, Allyson Lynne, and Alyssa Noel Haack, Jessica Molly, Amanda Margaret, and Robert Allen Mosher III, Katelyn Eva and Cody Allen Mosher; Adam Robert and Timothy Harold Mosher. She also leaves her brother, Richard Berks, and her sisters Laurie Berks and Carolyn Youlden.
Visitations will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off RT 30), Wayland.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday May 20, 2018 at First Parish Church in Weston, 349 Boston Post Road, Weston Center with the Reverend Dr. Thomas Wintle officiating. Burial in the Linwood Cemetery in Weston will be private.
