Obituary

WORCESTER____Leo G. Balcewicz, 94, of Worcester died on Monday, May 7, 2018 in the Odd Fellows Home. His wife of sixty-four years, Eileen (Matejko) Balcewicz died in 2008. He is survived by his children; a son, Leo Balcewicz, Jr. of Worcester; three daughters, Eileen Dunn and her husband Richard of Sacramento, CA, Leona (Kann) Anderson and her husband Carl of Webster, Stephanie Hicks and her husband James of Spencer; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Adam, George and Bronislaw Balcewicz and sisters, Stella Balasavich, Nellie Donnell Shea, Rose Arnberg and Edna Foster. He was born in the Three Rivers Section of Palmer, a son of George and Waleri (Walentinowicz) Balcewicz.
Mr. Balcewicz was founder and owner of Balcewicz Trucking Company retiring in 1985. He attended St. Mary’s High School and was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. He was a longtime member of The Polish National Alliance (PNA). Leo was a hardworking man who enjoyed his family and cherished his grandchildren. He will be remembered as kindhearted caring man who always helped others and cared for animals large and small.
The funeral will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 a.m., in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Monday, May 14, 2018 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
