Gary Wayne Edenfield, 59, of Tifton passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Carpenter Road Church of God with the Rev. Salone Green officiating. Mr. Edenfield will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Edenfield will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Edenfield’s fellow servicemen, Phillip Gill, Jackie Bracewell, Frank Burns, Michael Purvis, Vernon Stone, Scott Rainwater and Kevin Knapps, will serve as pallbearers.
Born August 16, 1958 in Tifton, Mr. Edenfield was the son of the late James Paul Edenfield, Sr. and Georgia Jeanette O’Quinn Edenfield. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Steve Edenfield. Before retiring, he worked as a machinist at HeatCraft and was a member of Carpenter Road Church of God. He was also a member of the Tifton Jaycees and served 22 years in the Georgia Army National Guard. He loved his Lord and Savior; his family; and his church.
Mr. Edenfield is survived by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Phillips Edenfield of Tifton; two daughters, Marsha Smith of Tifton and Teresa Cruz of Texas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Joy Edenfield of Gastonia, North Carolina, Jackie and Diane Edenfield of Tifton, and Michael and Kelly Edenfield of Florida; three grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Christa Guerra and husband Juan, and Alexandria Guitterez; and two great-grandchildren, Luke Guerra and Julian Guerra.
