Obituary

Roger A. Bergeron, 80, of Fairhaven passed away on Wednesday May 9, 2018 at Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion after a long period of declining health. He was the husband of Irene L. (Talbot) Bergeron.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Leo Bergeron, Sr. and Marie (Collette) Bergeron, he was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven.

Mr. Bergeron was employed with the Department of Defense, Defense Logistics Agency in Boston until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a plankowner aboard the USS Saratoga (CVA-60). He transferred to the Naval Reserve subsequent to the conclusion of his enlistment where he served honorably until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Russell Bergeron and his wife Laura, and Wayne Bergeron and his wife Michelle, all of Fairhaven; three grandchildren, James Bergeron and his wife Magaly, Kara Bergeron, and Corey Bergeron; two great-grandchildren, Mia and Emme Bergeron; a brother, John Bergeron and his wife Ruth; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the grandfather of the late Daniel Bergeron, and brother of the late Leo Bergeron, Gerald Bergeron, Norman Bergeron, and Claire Thomas.

His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday May 15, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Visitation will be on Tuesday morning from 9-10:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett.
