Obituary



Mary E. Costa (Ahern), age 81, passed away on May 8, 2018 after an illness. Mary was born in Brookline and attended St. Patrick’s High School and then St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School in Boston. She met her husband, Franklin, and they got married then settled in the Squantum area where they raised a family. Along with holding various nursing positions throughout her life, Mary was also completely dedicated to her family in the knowledge that her hard work would help offer her children a better life. Mary was an avid reader but her most precious memories were just being with her family of whom she was so very proud.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Franklin Costa. She is survived by her loving children Mary O’Donnell and her husband Robert of Braintree, Michael Costa and his wife Elaine Pascale of Mashpee, and Julie Fitzgerald and her husband James of Braintree. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren Danny, Elizabeth, Catherine, Chris, Sierra, Paul and her sister Patricia Pugliese and her significant other Peter Chew.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the Funeral Mass in honor of Mary’s life which will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth on Tuesday May 15, 2018 at 9:30am. A private visitation will take place at an earlier date for Mary’s family. Interment will immediately follow the Funeral Mass in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, MA at 11am. Funeral services for Mary are in the care of C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located in Weymouth, MA.
