FALL RIVER – Louis Fernandes, age 66, passed away on May 7, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Brighams and Womans Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Nunes) Fernandes. Born in Mosteiros, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of Maria Jose (Mateus) Fernandes and the late Manuel Fernandes. Louis was a member of the Academica and Borden City Club. He was a devoted catholic and a huge contributor to the St. Jude Research Fund. He was a huge Benfica soccer fan, loved to garden and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Prior to retirement he worked as a foreman for over 30 years for Don Martin Corporation in Marshfield.
Along with his wife and mother he is survived by his daughters Shannon Fernandes Pereira (husband Richard) and Kayla Jusseaume (husband Adam) all of Fall River; brother Manuel Fernandes (wife Fatima) of Westport and sister Mary Jo Norman (husband Antone) of NC; 5 grandchildren Ava, Mya, Talia, Lily and Cole; as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday here at 7:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Santo Christo Church at 8:30 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Friday from 4-8 P.M.
