Mrs. Karen E. (Guillemette) Heywood, of Taunton, entered into rest on Monday, April 30 in Morton Hospital following a period of declining health. She was the former wife of Peter A. Heywood of Bluffton, S.C. She was born 59 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of Roger A.J. Guillemette and the late Emma (Alves) Guillemette. Karen was educated in Taunton, was a graduate of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School, and received her Associate’s Degree from Newbury College. Prior to her illness, she had been employed at Davol Printing Co. in Taunton for 6 years. She was previously employed as Vice-President of Mechanic’s Cooperative Bank in Taunton for over 30 years. Karen was an avid bowler and was a member of the Thursday Nite Ladies League as well as several other leagues at Taunton Ten Pin Bowl. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and the outdoors.
In addition to her father, of North Dighton, she leaves: 1 son: Matthew Heywood and his wife, Heather C. of Quincy; 1 daughter: Lianne Kenealy and her husband, Andrew of Beverly; 1 brother: Keith A. Guillemette of No. Dighton; 1 sister: Tracey A. Drier and her husband, Ralph F. of Auburn, Neb.; 2 grandchildren: Ronan and Grace Kenealy, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, May 4 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
