Obituary

CHICOPEE – Francois R. “Frenchie” Grondin, 89, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life exactly one year to the day of the passing of his beloved wife and best friend, Jeannette, at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his caregivers. He was born in Saint Evariste, Province of Quebec, Canada on July 19, 1928, a beloved son of the late Johnny and Pamela (Poulin) Grondin. He was raised and schooled in Saint Evariste and, following his marriage in Canada in 1953, Francois and Jeannette immigrated to the United States. They later moved to Chicopee in 1955 where they resided the remainder of their lives. He was employed as a carpenter for 63 years with Local 108, now Local 336, and was employed for 34 years with Johnson Acoustics, Inc. in West Springfield. He was a communicant of the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and currently was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who showered his family with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Jeannette L. (Boulanger) Grondin. They were married on August 15, 1953 at Eglise de Saint Evariste in Saint Evariste, Province of Quebec, Canada and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving son, Jean J. “John” Grondin and his wife, Laura, of Chicopee; his three cherished grandchildren whom he adored, Jason Grondin and his wife, Julie, of Wilbraham, Lisa Hutchinson and her husband, Joseph, of East Longmeadow and Jake Grondin of Chicopee; his three cherished great-granddaughters, Ava Hutchinson, Ellie Hutchinson and Raeleigh Grondin; his dear brother, Real Grondin and his wife, Edith, of Quansville, P.Q., Canada; his three dear sisters, Marielle, Marie-Paul and Rose; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Grondin and Boulanger families. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by several of his dear siblings. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning, May 5, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
