Joseph A. Nerl, 88, of Derry, NH died Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Warde Health Center in Windham, NH. He was born on March 19, 1930 in Nittenau, Germany to the late Johann and Karolina Nerl. Joe had been a resident of Derry, NH since 1972, where he had been employed as an electrician at Continental Can Company. In his retirement he loved to fish, hike, bird watch and help friends and family with fixing everything and anything. He especially loved his summers on Nantucket and later Kennebunkport. He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1952 through 1960.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Kathe, in 2011. He is survived by his four children, Ann Fitzgerald and her husband John of Lusaka, Zambia, John Nerl and his wife Belinda of Londonderry NH, Lisa Bethune and her husband Brian of Plymouth, MA, Christine Faiella and her husband James of Cape Porpoise, ME as well as seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by one grandchild.
Calling hours were held on Thursday May 3 from 4-7pm, at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, May 4 at 10am at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Warde Health Center, 21 Searles Rd., Windham, NH. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery on Gilcreast Rd. in Londonderry, NH.
