Obituary

Donald L. Duval, 90, died Monday, April 23, 2018 in Overlook Health Center in Charlton after a period of declining health.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Aline A. (Bellerose) Duval; a daughter, Elise Duval Werger and her husband Paul Werger of Minneapolis, MN; a daughter-in-law, Karen R. Duval of Leicester; five grandchildren, Heather L. Abatelli and her husband Chris of Sayville, NY, Bryan D. Duval and his wife Jennifer of Colorado Springs, CO, Evangeline D. Werger, Maria D. Werger and Magdalena D. Werger, all of Minneapolis, MN; three great-grandchildren, Karalyn, Tyler and Kadyn; and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Roger L. Duval in 1991 and Rene A. Duval on January 24.

He was born in Bristol, CT and raised in Webster, the son of the late Edmond and Helen (Mandeville) Duval. He attended Bartlett Trade School. He resided In Webster all his life before moving to Charlton last year.

Mr. Duval managed the produce department in various markets in the area. He then was a food receiver at UMass/Memorial Healthcare on Belmont Street for 10 years, retiring in 1994.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a life member and past president of its League of the Sacred Heart. He enjoyed gardening and wood working; he also played cards in the Sacred Heart Pitch League for many years.

The funeral will be held Monday, April 30, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, April 29, in the funeral home. Donations in his name may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 18 E. Main Street, Webster, MA 01570.
