Obituary

Steven Bushnell, 64, of Camarillo, CA, passed away on April 22nd in his home after a lengthy battle with bile duct cancer.
Steven was born in Montebello, CA to George and Geraldine Bushnell. He attended Santa Barbara City College and completed his undergraduate degree at Columbia Pacific University. He received his FAA certification as an aerospace technician and was employed by Santa Barbara Aerospace. After Santa Barbara Aerospace closed Steven went back to school to earn a master's degree in family counseling and then a doctorate in clinical psychology. He successfully managed the Social Security Maximus Program in his region until Congress voted to discontinue the program. Afterward, he went into private practice, and also became the counselor at his local church in Santa Barbara. Later after completing seminary and becoming ordained, he filled the need for an adult Bible education teacher in his church in Camarillo by starting the Bible Chef Ministry. His passion for writing led to several published Christian books. He also enjoyed sharing his love of Jesus by going on missionary trips to Russia, Mexico, and Africa.
Steven met his wife, Kristen McKinley, in 1999 while taking a computer repair course at Technical Development Center in Ventura. They were married in 2001 and loved traveling to many locations in California and vacationing in Hawaii. They also enjoyed gardening, cooking, working on his books together and supporting Heart to Hope Orphanages in Nairobi, Kenya.
Steven is survived by his loving wife, Kristen Bushnell; daughter Emily Opalinski and son William Bushnell; mother Geraldine Bushnell; grandchildren Ashton McCartney, Riley McCartney, Ella Opalinski, Nathaniel Bushnell, Susanna Bushnell and Alexander Bushnell. He is preceded in death by his father, George Bushnell; brother Brian Bushnell and sister Cynthia Corcoran.
