Obituary

Bob Owen Batchman

11/14/71-4/22/18

Bob was raised in Marshfield and Carver MA. He was the youngest child of Bob O. and the late Barbara (Jones) Batchman. He is survived by his wife Beth (Mysall) Batchman of Mansfield. They were married for 19 years. Bob is also survived by siblings Brenda & her husband Thomas Stazinski of Walpole, Charles & wife Michelle Batchman of Weymouth, and Cynthia & husband Joseph Farley of Foxboro. Bob was uncle to nine nieces and nephews.

Bob worked for Boston Scientific for the past 19 years as a telecommunications technician.

He was an avid dart player, and had played for both Minuteman Dart League and Darlington Darts. His home bar was KC’s Tap in Pawtucket, RI and Bob entered each of their chili cook-offs, placing first or second each time. Bob loved to cook at home, and for his many friends. In the last several years, Bob found an interest in wine. A group of core friends enjoyed hosting wine club each month. One of Bob’s favorite things to do was head off on an unplanned adventure. He would often choose a direction to head and then just drive. So many of his travels included visits to zoos or animal sanctuaries, most notably a visit to Myrtle Beach Safari and visiting the monkeys in Punta Cana.

Bob was the tireless team captain of Get to Steppin’, a Mansfield Relay for Life team. His team was always energetic and motivated to do all they could for American Cancer Society. In Mansfield, Bob was known as the ‘Chili Guy’ a reference to his sell-out chili at Market Day each year.

Friends were an integral part of Bob’s life. There was nothing he would not do for a friend, no job too trivial. From spackling a friend’s drywall to demolishing another friend’s breezeway, he would do it all with a smile. It was his friends’ love and support that got Bob through the toughest days of his life. In the final weeks, he saw each of his friends so he could let them know just how much they meant to him. In so many instances, his friends were more like family.

A celebration of life will be held on May 12th in Mansfield. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bob’s name to MSPCA or to his Go Fund Me page. https://www.gofundme.com/help-bobs-final-journey-be-peaceful .
