Winfred Arthur Tucker, 76, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, April 20, 2018, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Memorial services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, May 6, 2018 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald. Friends and family will officiate.
Mr. Tucker was born April 23, 1941, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late W.A. & Ada Hayes Tucker. He retired from the railroad as a conductor. Winfred’s greatest pleasures came from enjoying his grandchildren and his beloved donkey, General Lee. He enjoyed taking him through town and having children follow and take photos. Following his retirement, he enjoyed gunsmithing and leather work. Mr. Tucker was one of a few that mastered the art of bluing guns.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Gelders of Fitzgerald; daughters: Pam Thomas of Brunswick, Jennifer Ray of Brunswick, Heather Frazier of Wichita, Kansas, Teresa Saez of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Ashley Tucker of Brunswick; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, John & Clara McCowen of Fitzgerald; and a sister, Jane Paulk of Fitzgerald. He is also survived by General Lee’s son. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved donkey, General Lee.
