Betty Nell Whitley, 78, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with the Rev. Joey Whitley officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6PM until 8PM Monday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Whitley was born June 1, 1939, in Ocilla, Georgia to the late James Wilcox Luke Jr. and Odell Camilla Fletcher Luke. She retired from the University of Georgia Extension Office. Mrs. Whitley loved growing flowers as well as placing flowers at the Ocilla Baptist Church. She was a member of Ocilla Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. She lived in the community all her life.
She is survived by her brothers-in-law: Billy Whitley, Marvin Whitley, and Carlton and Jo Ann Whitley all of Ocilla; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kelly of Ocilla: nephews, Joey and Zema Whitley of Ocilla, Stanley and Brenda Whitley of Ocilla, and Mike Floyd of Athens; half sister-in-law: Betty Jean Floyd of Harlem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. “Bobby” Whitley.
