Obituary

Albert A. David,
Nickname: Albear (in Arabic)
Born April 11, 1936 in Zahle, Lebanon to his parents, Mary Dolabany David and Toffick David. Died on April 17, 2018 in the Brockton VA Hospital. His goal was to make it to his 82 birthday and he did. He served in the Korean War for approximately 2 years and was honorably discharged.

He lived in Norwood, MA for most of his life and spent a few years in Nashville, TN with my mom, Pauline David whom he married in Beruit, Lebanon. Eventually, he returned to Boston suburbs, Dedham where my brother & I were born and grew up. He then moved back to Norwood, MA to live out the remainder of his years, eventually dying at the VA Hospital in Brockton MA.

He is survived by his 2 children, Cindy David & Alex David along with his siblings: Ken David, Ed David, & Larry David.

My father was an avid puzzle builder and was known to build 3-5,000 piece puzzles. He would sit for hours on end just trying to find that “missing piece” to complete a segment or a picture within a picture. He loved games (Monopoly, Sorry & Risk) along with doing crosswords/word find puzzles. He used to love to go the horse and dog tracks. He really just enjoyed life to the fullest.

My father enjoyed a varied life- he dipped his toes in many professions including car sales, owning his gas station/business, selling real estate, car sales and eventually running his own painting/wall paper painting business. My dad was really a “jack of all trades” and was exceptionally good with people and sales. He could sell ice to an Eskimo. Everyone “loved” my father and his personable charm. He had a way of making you “feel good” when you were around him. This is one characteristic that I am thankful that I inherited from my father.

Another attribute was my father’s sense of humor. My father was always telling jokes & and had everyone laughing like crazy or rolling on the floor holding their stomach from laughing so hard. He was the life of the party and everyone knew my Dad, Albert David. He was one of the funniest men I knew. This is another attribute that both my brother & I got from my father. In fact, I think my brother Alex is probably even funnier than I am. At least that is what I remember from growing up. But, to this day, I would say, we would have a good sense of humor b/c of my dad. It is this sense of humor that has gotten me through the difficult times of life and even through my father’s death. He still tried to crack jokes till the very end saying we could just bury him in a “macroni box.” This is something that I will always remember and cherish b/c it’s times that I could really laugh with my dad.

My father was active member of the Shriners Lodge and actively participated in their community and group activities along with donating to St. Jude’s Hospital and the Fraternal order of Police.
