NEW BEDFORD – Jacinto D. Vasconcelos, age 86 of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at St. Anne’s Hospital. Born in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores he was the beloved husband of Alexandrina (Santos) Vasconcelos and the son of the late Fernando Dåmaso Vasconcelos & Maria de Lurdes (Costa) Vasconcelos. Prior to retiring, Jacinto worked for Duro Finishing as a machine operator. He was an active member for 48 yrs. and past president of the Ateneu Luso Americano, and had served with the Portuguese Army as a Sgt. for 16 yrs.
In addition to his wife of New Bedford, survivors include his 2 sons: George Vasconcellos (wife Eva) of Cranston, RI and Richard Vasconcelos (wife Kelli) of Swansea; 2 step-sons: Roberto Costa (wife Vera) of Fall River and Marco DaCosta (wife Jessie) of CT; his sister: Maria da Concieção Costa (Vasconcelos) Pacheco of the Açores; 7 grandchildren: Megan Vasconcellos, Tori Maduro, Cameron Vasconcelos, Alexius Trahan, Bradyn Costa, Jonathan DaCosta, & Marco DaCosta Jr.; 2 great grandchildren: Anthony & Ella Bibi. He was the father of the late Leonora Vasconcelos-Dolan.
Jacinto’s calling hours will take place on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 4-8 P.M. with a service at 4:00 P.M. in the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River. Cremation to follow.
