Obituary

NATICK: Joseph William Slavin died peacefully at home on April 13, 2018 surrounded by his family in Natick at the age of 76, from pancreatic cancer.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth (McDonnell) Slavin; children, Sean and his wife Dardanella of Chilmark, Timothy and his wife Lisa of Framingham, Caitlin and her husband Jose of Charlestown, Kelly and her husband Andrew of Waltham, and Kristen and her husband Stephen of Southborough; siblings Elizabeth Sabo and her husband Michael of Endicott, NY, Barbara Slavin of Framingham and Margaret Ledwell and her husbnad James of Falmouth; and his grandchildren; Quinlan, Corrick, Jack, Elizabeth, Thomas, Saoirse, Joseph and Harrison and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was born on March 13, 1942 in Fort Monroe, VA to John Slavin and Mary Elizabeth (Connolly) Slavin. Joe attended Wellesley High School and then served proudly in the Army National Guard where he made lifelong friends. Joe went on to work for New England Telephone Company until his retirement in 1999. After Joe’s retirement he founded J.S. Telephone and acted as CEO and CFO for 19 years.
Joe met Mary, the love of his life, in 1967 in Falmouth Heights and they married in 1969. Mary and Joe were blessed with 5 children who they raised in their current home in Natick. Joe’s family was everything to him and he watched it grow through marriages and grandchildren.
Mary and Joe enjoyed traveling to many beautiful places around the world, making lasting memories everywhere they went. Joe passed on his love of cooking to all his children, making every family gathering a delicious one. Joe was an avid reader of Civil & WWII history. He was an active member of the St. Zepherin kitchen committee along with his wife, Mary.
His true legacy is the love he held for his family, nothing made him happier than just being with them.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road Road (off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland,
Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 10:00 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main Street (Rte. 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Slavin family lot in St, Zepherin Cemetery, Cochituate Village, Wayland.
