Obituary

VISCOSI, Armand J. – of Andover, MA. It is with great sadness that the family of Armand J. Viscosi announces his passing on April 13, 2018 at the age of 87. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Vito and Carmela Viscosi, and sisters Helen and Mary. Armand will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Patricia; daughter Carolyn Viscosi Shirley and husband David of Manchester, NH; daughter Elaine Viscosi Marquis and husband David of Tewksbury; and his grandchildren Carl and Talia Shirley and Katherine and Jessica Marquis, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his brother Daniel and wife Mary of Andover, and nieces and nephews in both Massachusetts and California.

A graduate of Lawrence High School, Armand received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University. He worked as an engineer at Stone & Webster, Sylvania, Raytheon, Textron, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Armand was interested in watercolor painting, woodworking, inventing, and spending time with family. He had a love of boats and boat building, and he designed and built his own 40-foot houseboat. Armand dedicated many hours to teaching his grandchildren how to paint with watercolors. He spent many summers vacationing with his family on Cape Cod and in York Beach, Maine. He also served in the army during the Korean War. Armand dealt with Parkinson’s Disease in his last few years and spent his final months at Prescott House in North Andover.

Visiting hours at St. Robert Bellarmine, 198 Haggetts Pond Road, in ANDOVER, on Tuesday, April 17 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine on Wednesday, April 18 at 11:00 am followed by interment at West Parish Cemetery in Andover. Please direct inquiries to Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home in Andover.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brigham and Women's Hospital Development Office, 116 Huntington Ave., 3rd Floor, Boston, MA 02116, in memory of Armand Viscosi, for "the Laboratory of Dr. Vikram Khurana at the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases."
