Rood, Helen L. (de Lemos) 92, formerly of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Briarwood Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Merlin Rood. Born in Lowell MA, she was a daughter of the late Antonio S and Jovina (Leal) de Lemos. Mrs Rood. was an administrator for AAA for many years before retiring. She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by a brother, Edward de Lemos of Needham, MA and sisters Catherine de Lemos of North Carolina and sister Shirley Freeman of Georgia. She was the mother of the late Anthony Rood and sister of the late Barbara Drinan, George, Anthony, Matthew, Joseph and Robert de Lemos.
We appreciate the social and nurturing environment provided by Avita of Needham for the last 18 months of Helen’s life. We also wish to thank Briarwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center and the Good Shepherd Community Care for providing Helen with palliative care over the last month of her life. Her private services will be held in Massachusetts.
