Obituary


Richard J. Morgan age 86 of Brockton, died Saturday April 7, 2018 at Signature Healthcare/ Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of the late June (Donahue) Morgan. Richard was born in Brooklyn, NY a son of the late John and Ann (Bogart) Morgan and was raised on Long Island. Since 1966 he had been a resident of Brockton and a congregant of Christ the King Church.

Following his high school graduation, Richard enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served from 1951-1971. He was stationed on the USS Wasp, circling the world three times.

In 1996, Richard retired as senior clerk at the Rockland Post Office. He loved the Brooklyn Dodgers (as he continued to call them), the New York Giants, and summers at his beach house in Dennisport. He also enjoyed gardening, sunsets, photography, and will be remembered for his philanthropy.

Richard is survived by his 5 children John Morgan and his wife Deana of Kingston, Theresa Shearer and her husband Larry of Brockton, William and Michael Morgan both of Brockton and Katie Morgan of Fall River. He leaves 4 grandchildren Emma, Benjamin and Peter Morgan and Daniel Bernard and was the brother of Sr. Miriam Anna, CSJ of Rockville Center, NY.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Tuesday 7:30-8:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 am at Christ the King Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. 309 Waverley Oak Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
