Obituary

Sandwich – Ronald M. Mello, age 80, passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Ronald was the husband of Dorothy Mello, whom he had been married to for 36 years. He was also the son of the late Manuel and Mary de Mello.

Ronald was a Class of “56” graduate from Dartmouth High School. He originally resided in S. Dartmouth and in 1988, he relocated to W. Wareham. He worked as a parts manager at Ashley Ford for over 20 years and had also been a mate to his father scalloping on the “Santa Cruz” and a variety of other boats.

Ronald enjoyed watching sports and was a die-hard N.Y. Giants fan. He could be found yelling at the Boston Red Sox, as well as, sitting along the Cape Cod Canal enjoying his lunch and watching the boats go by.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Keith Mello of S. Dartmouth and the late Mark Mello formerly of S. Dartmouth; 3 grandchildren, Tanya Rachael Mello and her fiancé, John Perry of S. Dartmouth, Valerie (Mello) Stewart and her husband, James of Fairhaven and Ryan Mello of N. Weymouth; 4 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Madison, Connor and Quinn “Twinkle Toes”; sisters, Beverly Mello and Gerry Bourgeois both of S. Dartmouth; as well as several nieces, nephews and greats.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Ronald’s memory to Hope Hospice, McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Road, Sandwich, MA 02537.

His visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Sunday, from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at a later date at St. Joseph’s Church in New Bedford. Please check back on the website for the update.
