Obituary

Raymond Wayne Cook, 73, of Hawthorne, Fla., passed away April 4, 2018.

He was born April 10, 1944 in Fernandina Beach, Fla. to Raymond R. and Ada Ruth Cook.

He graduated in 1962 from Yulee High School, spent 11 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from Rock-Tenn in 2003. He married Marian Frances Cook on August 21, 1979 in Kingsland, Ga. Ray was raised up on the banks of the Bell River and loved to fish. His other passion was as a ham radio operator of 50 years or so. He was a very intelligent man with the ability to build and fix anything he put his mind to. He was able to pass that talent on to all of his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Joshua Simon-Aguilar, in 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Marian F. Cook of Hawthorne; sons, Matthew W. Cook of Folkston, Ga., Michel D. Cook of Yulee, Fla., Mitchell R. Cook of North Bend, Ore.; step-sisters, Monica Hamilton of Ocala, Fla., Theresa McKinnon of Yulee, Deleta Kay Bevridge of Delaware, Ohio, Andrea Aguilar of Palm Harbor, Fla.; step-brother, Brian Bibler of Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Rev. Harford Peeples officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery.
