Obituary

Frederick Mark England Jr., “Fred” or “Gampa” as he was lovingly called, 83, of Middleboro, passed away peacefully at home on April 3 surrounded by family. Born May 10, 1934 in Cambridge. Fred is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean; his parents, Frederick and Catherine (Foster) England; four sisters Millie, Dorothy, Gracie, and Emma; and one brother William.

Fred proudly served his country during the Korean War and after as an Honor Guard at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. After the service, Fred worked 47 years at various printing companies. During retirement, he enjoyed cheering on the Red Sox, spending hours outside with his “coffee clatch”, breakfast with his friends, playing the lottery and pool days with his “ray of sunshine”.

Fred leaves behind daughter Donna (England) Rosano and her husband, Mike; son Mark England; three grandchildren, Michael Rosano, Danielle (Rosano) Davidson, and Mark England; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Charles, Liliana Margaret, and Hadleigh Charlotte, who he adored. He is also survived by three sisters (Catherine, Marie, and Shirley) and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday April 10 at 8:00 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson. Burial will follow at 12:45 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Monday April 9 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
