Obituary

Harold Lewis Cheever, 88, of Anderson died Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Community Hospital Anderson.

He was born in 1929 in Anderson to parents, Londa and Bernadine (Bailey) Cheever and graduated from Anderson High School in 1947. He then joined the United States Marine Corps and served from 1952 to 1954 in the Korean War. He served as a Reservist from 1954 to 1960 in the United States Marines. After he completed his Marine duties, he worked as a utility man and stock chaser at Delco Remy until his retirement in 1987.

He married Janet (Richardson) Cheever on May 25, 1956. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before her death in 2014.
He was a member of Eastview Church of the Nazarene, where he regularly led the congregation in raising its voice to the Lord. Beyond his love for God, country and family, he was an avid softball player for Delco Remy, Metro Park Softball League Indianapolis and 43 Years and Older Shelbyville Softball League until age 79. His other passion in life was his grandsons.

Survivors include his daughters, Laura (Larry) Hill of Anderson, Dianna (Diny) Cheever of Shelbyville and his grandsons, Colin Hill and Graham Hill of Colorado; his siblings, Dave (Susie) Cheever of Florida, Gordon (Anita) Cheever of Muncie and Steve Cheever of Anderson, Mary Ann Sheward of Florida, Nancy Currey of Anderson, Jody (Ron) Tischler of Anderson and brother-in-law Loren Penrod; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Janet (Richardson) Cheever, three brothers, William Cheever, James Cheever and Richard Cheever, two sisters, Lonadine White and Pat Penrod. three brothers-in-law and their wives, Fred (Mid) Richardson, Donald (Jo) Richardson and Robert "Andy" (Lou) Richardson, a sister-in-law and her husband Phyllis (Sande) Grieb, as well as brothers-in-law, Kay Sheward and Kenny White.

Please join us to visit with family and friends on Thursday, April 5, 3-4 p.m. with memorial service to follow at Eastview Church of the Nazarene in Anderson with Pastor Mike Clark officiating the memorial service.

Memorial contributions may be given to Eastview Church of the Nazarene or the Alzheimer's Association of America.
