Obituary

Alan R. Loveday, age 84, of Brockton, died peacefully March 30, 2018 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, he was the son of the late Gerard X. and Hazel G. (Carlson) Loveday. Alan was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean War era as a Radioman on Navy patrol blimps along the eastern U.S. coast. He had been employed by Fernandes and Stop and Shop Supermarkets for over 40 years. An avid golfer since his youth, Alan enjoyed playing at many local golf courses including DW Field Golf Course, Poquoy Brook in Lakeville, and Easton Country Club for many years. He was also an avid sports fan and New England Patriots season ticket holder for many years. More than anything else, he enjoyed spending time with and sharing in the lives of his many nieces and nephews.

Alan leaves his longtime companion, friend and caregiver, Mary Eamon of Rockland; brother James Loveday of Lexington and sister Carol Maynard of Hyde Park; and, grandchildren Craig and Jennifer Scholl, children of his late son, Craig Scholl. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Alan was the brother of the late Walter and Gerard Loveday, Jr., Geraldine Owen, Joan Mills and Janice Loveday.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday, April 4, 5-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 10:30am, followed by burial in Melrose Cemetery.
