William R. MacDonald

TEWKSBURY: William R. MacDonald, age 74, a resident of Tewksbury for 46 years, passed away at Lowell General Hospital- Saints Campus on Friday, March 30, 2018.
He was the beloved husband of Mary B. (Muldoon) MacDonald, with whom he would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on June 26, 2018.
Born in Boston on November 26, 1943, he was the son of the late James MacDonald and the late Mary (Driscoll) MacDonald.
Bill was raised in the Roslindale area of Boston. He attended local schools, was a graduate of Roslindale High School, and attended Northeastern University.
In 1963, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for the former J & C. Adams Company, where he worked for many years.
He enjoyed gardening, caring for the grounds of his home, and hosting family gatherings and cookouts. In addition, Bill was an avid follower of the New England Patriots.
In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by five children, Dorothy C. Calvetti and her husband Mark of Milford, NH, Lisa M. Stone and her husband Chuck of Billerica, Kathleen A. Chase and her husband Bill of Tewksbury, Christine E. MacDonald of Billerica, and William R. MacDonald and his wife Kathy of Brookline, NH; ten grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Bethany, Katie, Jessica, Billy, Erin, Owen, Jake, and Zach; great granddaughter, Vanessa; siblings, James MacDonald and Maureen Shaller both of FL.
Calling hours are Wednesday, April 4, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Thursday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
