Obituary

New Bedford – John Florio, age 90, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Alden Court Nursing Home. He was the Loving husband of Eugenia (Tavares) Florio of New Bedford and son of the late Mary (Costa) and Larriano Florio.
He is survived by his wife Eugenia, a son: Michael J. Florio and his wife Ann of Mattapoisett, 2 grandchildren Katelyn Lash and her husband David and Mikayla Florio, a nephew Paul Santos, husband of Florence and several loving nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Manuel and Antone Florio, Mary Constance Santos and Irene Medeiros.
Mr Florio was born in New Bedford, MA. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Panama Canal, was a lifetime member of Post 6643 Freetown VFW, a member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of Saint James and worked at Servomation and ran Home Maintenance by Florio
Johns’ funeral service will be Wednesday morning, April 4th , 2018 beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St James Church at 10 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday evening from 4 – 7 P.M.
