Obituary

John F. “Jack” Riley, age 81, of Brockton, died peacefully, March 26, 2018. John was the husband of Janet (Kelleher) Riley for 43 years. Lifelong of Brockton, he was the son of the late Frances and Elizabeth (Riordan) Riley. John was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1955, and a proud member of the football team. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Navy. For 42 years, he was a loyal member of Teamsters Local 653 and a longtime member of the Bertocci Club. Full of life and a good friend to many, he loved spending time with family and friends and his cat Simon. He was also an avid reader and sports fan and enjoyed working on his home and in his yard.

In addition to his wife Janet, he is survived by his daughter Maureen Mahoney and her husband Ricky and their children Christopher Mahoney and his wife Lindsay; Lindsay Mahoney and her husband Tim Harbage and Kyle Mahoney. He is also survived by his late son Michael’s children Jake and Mackenzie, two great grandchildren Christian and Harrison, his son in law Eddie Regan, his former wife Barbara Riley and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the father of the late Jacqueline, Michael and Kathleen and brother of the late Evelyn Gowell.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday, April 2, 2-5pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 9am for a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, West Bridgewater at 10am, followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
