CHICOPEE – Henry Robert “Bob” Mason, Jr., 89, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 18, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home in Chicopee on July 3, 1928, a beloved son of the late Henry R. Mason, Sr. and Dorothy M. (King) Mason. He was raised and educated in Chicopee and had lived in Chicopee most of his life. Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Corporal. He had worked as a traffic controller for Waste Management and was a communicant of Saint Anne Church, both in Chicopee. He was active with many political organizations and also worked as an administrative aide to the late former Mayor of Chicopee, Richard Demers. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Therese M. (Lareau) Mason. They were married on September 27, 1947 at the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with over 70 years of happiness together. He is also survived by his loving daughter, Lisa Ann Mason-Prych and her husband, Jude, of Carlsbad, CA; his four adored grandchildren, Jordan, Gabrielle, Cameron and Joshua Prych; his two dear sisters, Marlene Parent and Barbara O’Donnell, both of Chicopee; his dear brother-in-law, Daniel Zajchowski; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Mason and Lareau families. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his dear sister, Dorothy Zajchowski. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 168 Fuller Road, Chicopee, MA 01020. For those who prefer, his family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
