Obituary

Susan Raye (Gaudette) Flibotte (1948-2018). Susan Raye Gaudette, age 69, passed away peacefully early in the morning of March 18, 2018. She was born on December 14, 1948 in Newton, Massachusetts to Herbert Gaudette and Winifred Sommers/Gaudette. Susan was a loving mother to many children, even those that were not biologically her own. Many knew her, lovingly, as “Ma”. To say she was an artist is an understatement. Everything about Susan from her wardrobe to her many vintage pieces of glass and collectibles were a testament to her style and flair. Susan had an immense passion for many genres of music. She loved everything from broadway musicals and Nat King Cole to Led Zeppelin and Donovan. Music was a huge part of her soul. One of her favorite pastimes was when her son-in-law Jody would play music for her. She paid great attention to detail and had a sharp eye for all artistic aesthetics. Susan spent many years as an artistic costume designer for many dance companies, garnering awards for her fine head pieces. Susan had various talents that extended from fashion to cooking. She shared her love for food in many ways, most notably her special recipe for Lasagna and Meatballs that she would make for what seemed like the whole neighborhood. At times it was the whole neighborhood. She had endless love to give others as well as great conversations about fashion and film over a hot cup of coffee and a donut. She was always there to give advice or a shoulder to cry on. Her great love for her family extended to all those who needed her. Susan is survived by her two daughters, Jesse Helm and Rachel Sheridan, two sons, Robert Sheridan and Joshua Flibotte, her grandchildren, Jillian Sheridan, Zachary Sheridan, Maryah Gondinho, her great grandchildren, Leighana and William Sheridan and sons-in-law Joseph Helm and Richard Arsenault. She leaves all her children everywhere with the immortal words of one of her favorite singers, Freddie Mercury:

“You will remember, When this is blown over,
And everything's all by the way. When I grow older,
I will be there at your side to remind you
How I still love you, I still love you.”

Her services will be private.
