Obituary

Robert R. Devine passed away peacefully on March 15, from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. Born April 25, 1941 to John and Carrie Devine, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, brother Doug, sister Janet Murray (Roland), brother-in-law Philip Knowlton and Sister-in-law Sally Carmichael (Edward), a nephew and several nieces. Bob loved sports, especially curling. As a Canadian curler he played in Junior Nationals. and the Brier. In the U.S. he played in the U.S. Nationals three times. His curling experiences and friends meant the world to him, and he continued to curl several times a week into his 70s. He loved nothing better than the competition of a game well played. Bob received a B.A. in Economics from the University of New Brunswick, and an M.A. in Economics from Northeastern. He completed PhD coursework from B.U. before accepting an offer to teach at Framingham State University. He was there for 34 years until his retirement, loving every minute of it. He enjoyed his expansive model railroad and train travel. Bob and Sharon took many trips, especially enjoying traveling to New Orleans and a cross country trip to San Francisco. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M on March 31, 2018 at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common, Natick, MA. Visiting hours will begin at 9:00 A.M. prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, at www.alz.org, or P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011. Bob will be forever loved, and never forgotten.
