Obituary

Veronica C. (Urban) Strojny, 96, of Fall River, MA passed away peacefully, following a
courageous battle against a period of declining health, surrounded by her loving family on March
18, 2018.
Born in Fall River, she was the beloved wife of the late Francis “Frank” F. Strojny. She was
the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Sigda) Urban.
A lifelong resident of Fall River, Veronica was a communicant and member of the Holy
Rosary Society of the former Holy Cross Church. She was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High
School, Class of 1939 and the F.G. Allen Business School (1940) in Fall River. Later in her life,
Mrs. Strojny attended Bristol Community College.
She was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. of Fall River for 31 years, working in
various capacities but primarily as a secretary. Later, she worked for the City of Fall River for 10
years as an administrative assistant in various programs, agencies and offices, most notably for
the Western Expressway Relocation Project.
She was kind, generous and always willing to give of herself. Mrs. Strojny had a talent for
sewing and enjoyed doing other yarn crafting. Veronica enjoyed celebrating her Polish traditions,
dancing to Polish music, participating in church sponsored Bingo, going on trips to the casino,
shopping, walking, writing in Shorthand, vacationing in different places within the states from
Hawaii to Maine as well as Poland, Canada and Bermuda, and above all spending time with her
family.
She is survived by her son: Richard J. Strojny and his wife, Dr. Jana Levin-Strojny of Kailua
Kona, Hawaii; her daughter: Linda K. Collard and her husband, Philip of Tiverton, Rhode Island;
her cherished granddaughter: Jillian F. Collard and several nieces and nephews. She was the
sister of the late Stanley J., Francis L., and Kazimier F. Urban and the late Lucille M. Collins.
Her funeral will take place on Saturday, March 24 th at 8:30 AM from the Boyko Memorial
Funeral Home, 709 Broadway, Fall River, MA 02724, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at
10:00 AM at Holy Cross Chapel, 47 Pulaski Street, Fall River, MA. 02721. Visiting hours will
be held on Friday, March 23 rd from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment will be at St. Patrick's
Cemetery, Fall River, MA.
