Obituary

APPLING, GA. - Thelma T. Clark, 87, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife of the late William Louis Clark, entered into rest the 19th day of March, 2018.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Christ the King Lutheran Church with the Pastor David Keener officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Thelma was a native of New Ipswich, New Hampshire and the daughter of the late Calvin and Amy Todd. She moved to Augusta, met and married William “Bill” Clark where they lived and raised three daughters. Thelma obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the Medical College of Georgia; she retired from MCG as Director of Medical Records. Thelma and Bill built their dream home in Columbia County where they remained married for 59 years and Thelma lived the rest of her life. Thelma was a life-long Lutheran and a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection/Augusta, charter member of Advent Lutheran Church and Christ the King Lutheran Church. After retirement, Thelma joined the Lutheran Mission Group performing charity work in Jamaica. She was a volunteer at the local soup kitchen and Gibbs Library in Evans. She also worked at the polls during local and national elections. Thelma was always there to help those in need with her services and generous donations. She loved living in the country where she and Bill raised numerous farm animals. She adopted a family of feral cats as well as other found or abandoned animals. She was an avid reader, loved gardening, baking, shopping and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill and her brother Edsel Todd.

Survivors include her sister, Viola Tabor (Don); daughters Cyndy Ensley (Roy), Blue Ridge, GA; Colleen Sines (Philip), Martinez, GA; Pam Grickis, Evans, GA; grandchildren Jason Nichols, Ashley Gilbert (John), Jonathan Grickis, Taylor Sines (Lauren), Parker Sines, Kymberlee Sines and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Dillworth, Dean Loss, John Gilbert, Jonathan Grickis, Parker Sines and Taylor Sines.

The family will receive friends on March 21, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Platt’s Funeral Home, 337 North Belair Road, Evans GA.
