Obituary

Edward J. "Eddie" Greatorex, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, March 19, 2018 at his home in Charlestown. He was 71 years of age.

Eddie was born in Boston on January 24, 1947, a son of the late John J. Greatorex and Mable T. (Marley) Greatorex. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from high school. He worked as a truck driver for various waste management companies throughout his career until his retirement after 42 years. Eddie was a member of the Bunker Hill Council #62 Knights of Columbus, Bunker Hill Associates, a 35 year member of Charlestown Little League and Past President, and he was the Little League District 9 administrator for 20 years.

Eddie is the beloved husband of 47 years to Marilyn "Cissy" (Suprey)Greatorex. He is the devoted father of Boston Firefighter Jamsie Greatorex and his wife Janelle, and the late Eddie J. Greatorex. He is the loving Grampy of Landyn, Ethan, Kamden, and his princess Riann. He is the beloved brother of James "Froggy" Greatorex, Judy Madeiros, Helen Groggett, and the late Lizzy, Ellie, Joe, and Butsy. He is the brother-in-law of Eleanor Tallent and her husband Jimma, retired Billerica Fire Department Captain Buddy Suprey and his wife Donna, Maryann Remy and her husband Dennis, retired Boston Fire Department Captain Billy Suprey and his wife Mary, Paula Rose and her husband Tom, Pattyann Suprey, Peggy Suprey and the late Jeannie Doherty and her surviving husband Dennis, and Gerry Suprey and his surviving former wife Joanne. He is the son-in-law of the late Mary and Walter Suprey. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. He was the dear friend of Bobby Stearns, Judy Evers, and the late Wayne Davis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eddie's Funeral on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
