Obituary

Jean D. (Robinson) Brown 84, a lifelong resident of Brockton passed peacefully on March 17, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Jean was the daughter of the late George and Alice (Durant) Robinson, and wife of the late William A. Brown Jr. She was a 1951 graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and a telephone operator with AT&T for more than 30 years.

A wonderful neighbor, friend, daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, Jean brought love, light, and laughter to the innumerable lives she touched. Jean’s boundless energy served her well, both professionally and moreover, personally. As a young mother, she devoted herself to her husband, Bill, and their six children, making time to volunteer at the John F. Kennedy School, and serving as an active communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. When not making the most of her gift of gab working at AT&T, she opened her home and heart to the neighborhood kids (of all ages), providing a well-stocked refrigerator for all to enjoy. In her 23 years of retirement, she relished trips near and far – be they for the nearest bargains for her grandchildren at Ocean State Job Lot or T.J. Maxx, or time with family on Cape Cod, New York City, and Florida. Jean will be remembered for her unparalleled wisdom and wit. She knew when to hold back – and more often than not – when to give her all, as she tirelessly dedicated herself to everything and everyone in her rich life.

Jean is survived by her children; Kathy Guiney and her husband Ed of Easton, William A. III of NJ, Sean G. and his wife Laureen C. of Hanover, Donna J. Brown of FL, and, her son-in-law Mark A. Chartier of Brockton, 12 grand and 2 great-grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her daughter Julie A. Chartier, and son Thomas M. Brown.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Conley Funeral Home (138 Belmont Street -Rte. 123) Brockton. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Friday at 8:00 a.m., followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church (439 West St, Brockton, MA 02301), and a 2:15 burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
