Obituary

Dimitra (Vogiatzis) Savvidis, 82, of Worcester fell asleep with the Lord on Sunday, March 18th with her loving family at her side. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, George Savvidis; her son Vasilios Savidis and his wife, Flora (Papalilo) of Worcester; her daughter, Kathy Alexiadis and her husband, Phil of Holden; a brother, Anastasios Vogiatzis of Southport, NC: five grandchildren, John Alexiadis, George Savidis, George Alexiadis, Dimitri Savidis and Phillip Alexiadis and many nephews and nieces here and in Greece. She was predeceased by two brothers, Ioannis and Dimitrios Vogiatzis and her sister, Maria Hatzopoulos.

She was born in Hrisohorafa, Greece the daughter of Vasilios and Ekaterini (Filipidou) Vogiatzis and came to Worcester in 1970. Mrs. Savvidis was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church and a member of Cultural Center Hrisohorafiton, Alexander the Great. She enjoyed travel, gardening and fishing; she will be remembered as a great cook who delighted in preparing meals for her family.

Her funeral is Thursday, March 22nd from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 21st from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
