Obituary

CHICOPEE – Helen A. (Morissette) Ludden, 70, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, March 16, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on October 24, 1947, where she was raised and graduated from the High School of Commerce. She later moved to Chicopee where she lived for the past 40 years of her life. She was employed for over 20 years as a case manager for mentally challenged people at the former Vanguard Services Agency. She had a generous heart and spent her entire life helping others. She shared her life and home and was the foster mother of Richard Casey for many years. She was the founder of the Widow and Widowers Group in Chicopee and was also the founder of the Chicopee Braves Cheerleaders. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Charles A. Ludden, Jr. who was Called Home on June 23, 1994. She leaves her loving and devoted daughter, Eva M. Dion and her husband, Mark, of Chicopee; her two loving step-children, Brian Ludden and his wife, Julie, of Charlotte, NC and Kelly Ludden of Long Beach, CA; her four cherished grandchildren, Elliot “Ella” Dion who was the “apple of her eye”, Amanda Dion, Mark Dion, Jr. and his wife, Amanda and Anna Ludden; her two dear brothers, Alfred Morissette of Springfield and Philip Smith and his wife, Linda, of Montgomery, MA; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the family. In addition to her beloved husband, she was also welcomed into Heaven by her loving parents, Alfred and Eva (Root) Morissette; her dear brother, Larry Morissette; her three dear sisters, Alice Gemme, Theresa Sampson and Beatrice Montefusco; and her former husband, John V. Cox. Her family will receive friends on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. during the visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Jericho, P.O. Box 1039, Holyoke, MA 01041-1039.
