Obituary

Augusta, GA - Barbara Grealish Mulherin, wife of the late Honorable Bernard J. Mulherin, Sr., entered into rest on Thursday, March 15, 2018.

A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Ingram officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Barbara was a life-long resident of Augusta and attended the Sacred Heart School and Mt. Saint Joseph’s. After high school, she started on a nursing degree which was interrupted by marriage and the birth of five children. At the age of 42, and 24 years after beginning her quest for a nursing degree, Barbara went back to school and earned her BS in Nursing in 1981. Barbara was instrumental in the creation of the Titleholders Women’s Professional Golf Tournament, serving as its secretary for the entirety of its existence.

Barbara enjoyed her life and was a great friend to many. She and Bernard were particularly fond of the beach, spending a great deal of time at Hilton Head Island where she was a 10-year board member and officer for the neighborhood regime.

Survivors include two sons; Edward G. Mulherin (LeAnne) of Augusta, GA, John G. Mulherin (Debbie) of Statesboro, GA, two daughters; Ashlynn M. Hutto of Augusta, GA, Mary Anne M. McCollum (John) of Augusta, GA, sister; Patricia Grealish McElveen (Tommy) of Graniteville, SC, grandchildren; Bernard J. Mulherin, III, Walter and Camilla Hutto, Clare and Patrick Mulherin, Mary Catherine and Carson McCollum, Hannah and Matthew Mulherin, great grandchildren; Joseph and Pamela, great great grandson; Colton Lee. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mulherin was preceded in death by her son; Bernard “Buzz” J. Mulherin, Jr., son-in-law; James W. Hutto, Jr., brother; Edward Platt Grealish, Jr., sister; Mary Catherine Grealish Sullivan.

The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the funeral home. The family will receive friends immediately following until 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be Michael Walter, Danny Walter, Burt Clements, Sean Burke, Pat Kelly, and Edward Dorr.
