Ashley Hugh Parten, 34, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 14, 2018, in Caryville, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, March 18, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Derrell Hampton and the Rev. Josh Bowles officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Ashley was born April 26, 1983, in Warner Robins, Georgia, to Hugh Archie & Leslie Dale Britt Parten. He was a 2002 graduate of Irwin County High School. He worked in engineering maintenance of way for CSX Railroad. Ashley was a dedicated employee and enjoyed time spent with his work family. Ashley loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed grilling and spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted father and loving husband. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Mystic.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Parten of Ocilla; children: Austin Hugh Parten and Maddie Taylor Parten; parents: Hugh & Dale Parten of Adairsville; mother-in-law, Vickie & Mark Martin of Ocilla; father-in-law, Ricky Elrod of Fitzgerald; siblings: Bryan & Candice Britt of Irwin County, Amanda & Brian Hester of Irwin County, Holly Parten of Clearwater, Florida, Madison Parten of Adairsville, and Bridgett Parten of Adairsville; brother-in-law, Zach and Holly Elrod of Tifton; grandparents: Leslie & Eunice Britt and Betty Taylor, all of Fitzgerald; nieces and nephews: LouLou Britt, Luke Britt, Layken Britt, Tom Wilson-Parten, Max Wilson-Parten, and Reese Hester; aunts and uncles: Gail & Tim Whitley of Rebecca, Dwayne & Raynell Britt of Milledgeville, Torrie & Brad Holton of Rebecca, Diane & Don Randall of Macon, Judy Eberhardt of Centerville, Rick & Dea Parten, Tina & Conway Moore, Lisa & James Taylor, Mark & Mandy Taylor, and Kenny & Teresia Taylor, and several cousins including special cousins, Chucky & Carrie White, Logan White, and Lainey White, all of Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Dale Parten; and his grandparents: Dallas Parten, LaWanda Parten, and Margery Parten.
