Bessie Faye Champion Bolen Tutor, age 80, died Friday, March 16, 2018, at Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS. She was born July 21, 1937, to the late Herman Champion and Louise Champion in Water Valley, MS and lived in the Water Valley area all her life. Following her graduation in 1955, she entered the nursing program at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Memphis, TN. Bessie loved nursing and music, particularly church music. She was an accomplished pianist. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as church pianist. Bessie was a seamstress and could also make a delicious banana pudding.
Visitation will be held at Bethel Baptist Church of Water Valley, MS, on Monday, March 19, 2018, at 10:00 a. m. with the service to follow at 11:00 a. m. Bro. Shane Crawford and Dr. Danny Champion will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery.
Bessie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Atlas Earl Tutor; a daughter, Angela Edwards (Sammy) of Water Valley, MS; a son, Lane Bolen (Nancy) of Lake City, Florida; her brother, Dr. Dan Champion (Lilly) of Athens, AL; three granddaughters, Bethany Muha, Jessica Brown, and Anna Marie Beasley; two grandsons, Micah Bolen and Philip Siebring; and three great grandchildren.
