Obituary

Phyllis Marie (Balli) Matto, of Framingham, MA, passed away on March 14, 2018, at the age of 82, after a brief illness. She was born March 3rd, 1936 in Newton Massachusetts to Kosta and Olga Balli and graduated from Newton High School Class of 1954. She married George F. Matto (deceased) in 1956 and lived in California, Watertown, MA, and eventually settled with her husband in Framingham for nearly 50 years.
Phyllis most notably spent more than 20 years as the Secretary to the Chief of Police of Wayland, MA. Upon her retirement, she loved to travel with her family and friends and spent much time volunteering at the Annunciation Orthodox Church in Natick. Most people will remember Phyllis for her vibrant sense of humor, her caring attitude, and a knack of making friends wherever her travels took her.
Phyllis was pre-deceased by her parents, husband, and sister, Helen Verdy of Framingham. She is survived by her son, Glenn Matto, her daughter, Christine (Matto) Hampson and her husband Richard Hampson, grandchildren, Kelly and Jonathan Hampson, and her sisters Julia Vishnja, Sally (Jane) Yphantes, and Carol Kauzens; not to mention the many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews in her extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Monday, March 19th at 10:30 a.m. at the Annunciation Orthodox Church, 37 Washington Ave., Natick, MA. Interment will follow at Dell Park Cemetery.
Visiting hours in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common are Sunday, March 18th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
