Obituary



STEEP FALLS- Philip Gordon Walker, age 90, passed away on March 11, 2018 at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born in Standish on Aug. 8, 1927, a son of the late Arthur and Nellie (Lombard) Walker and attended Standish schools.
Philip went on to serve in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War.
After his service in the Navy, Philip work for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years in Steep Falls. He served as the clerk for 25 years and as the Postmaster for the last 10 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed boating on Sebago Lake, playing golf, and gardening; however, he will be remembered by his love of family and how proud he was of his children and grandchildren.
He served as a Boy Scout Master and was a member of the American Legion and the East Baldwin Congregational Church.
Philip is predeceased by his siblings- Paul and Robert Walker.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years- Ellen F. (Chaplin) Walker; his children- Dale G. Walker and his wife Margret of VA, Clifford A. Walker and his wife Debra of Cornish, Kenneth A. Walker and his wife Margo of NC, and Kathleen E. Walker of Steep Falls; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate Philip’s life will be held on Saturday March 17 at 11 AM at the East Baldwin Congregational Church on School St. A reception will follow at the Baldwin Town Hall which is the former Baldwin Elementary School.
